The National League for Nursing Entrance Exam (NLN-NEX) is required for admission to the Program beginning with applicants seeking admission for the 2025/2026 academic year. The Program no longer accepts the TEAS or PAX exam.
The NLN NEX is offered through the Adult & Continuing Education division of UCT. The exam must be completed in person at an authorized testing center with an in-person proctor. Exams completed remotely and/or with a virtual proctor will NOT be accepted.
Please follow these steps to register for the exam:
First: You will also need to create an account and choose a test date on the National League of Nursing site: www.NLNTEST.org
Second: Students must also register and pay $152.50 to Upper Cape Tech Adult & Continuing Education by calling Linda Walker at 508-759-7711 x211 or emailing [email protected]. Payment must be made within 24 hours of scheduling the exam.
NOTE: Students MUST know their NLN login and password to sign into NLN and complete the NEX Exam on the date scheduled to test. Students have 3 attempts to successfully pass the NEX Exam. If an individual fails to arrive for their scheduled exam, this missed NEX Exam will be considered 1 of the 3 permitted opportunities to pass the NLN NEX.
Please note that the NEX exam will not be offered beyond June 2025.
For more information about the exam, see Student Guide student-guide-2024.09.docx (live.com).
To have your NLN NEX scores considered for admission to the Program you must complete the Practical Nursing Program Application for Admission with the NON-REFUNDABLE payment of the $50.00 Application fee. Payment must be made in the form of cash (please bring exact amount) or money order made out to Upper Cape Tech. If mailing your payment, do NOT mail cash. NEX scores received without an application to the Program on file will not be reviewed.
Applicants are permitted to take the NEX on three (3) occasions during an admission cycle, July 1, 2024 to June 30, 2025.
IMPORTANT: NLN NEX results that are reported to UCT by NLN Testing Services as being flagged for any reason will NOT be considered for the purpose of applying to the UCT PN Program. The flagged exam attempt WILL be considered as one of the three attempts for the purpose of testing in the admission cycle.
