Applying to the Practical Nurse Program
Applicants to the PN Program are required to provide evidence of high school graduation with an official transcript, or official GED (scores included) or official HiSET (scores included).
What is the difference between an OFFICIAL and an UNOFFICIAL transcript?
*An OFFICIAL [paper] transcript is printed on special,
watermarked paper. Official paper transcripts are sent in a
sealed, signature-stamped envelope.
*An electronic transcript is considered OFFICIAL if the
PN Program is the direct email recipient. If emailed to
the applicant, then forwarded, it is then considered
UNOFFICIAL.
*An electronic transcript which is printed then re-scanned in
an email is considered UNOFFICIAL.
*A transcript that is faxed is considered OFFICIAL if the
PN Program is the direct fax recipient. If faxed from the
applicant it is considered UNOFFICIAL.
The regulations of the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Nursing require all candidates for admission to a nurse education program to provide satisfactory evidence of secondary school graduation, or its equivalent. Individual who did not graduate from secondary school (high) school may submit either the HiSET examination or GED examination. Details can be found here.
Applicants seeking admission on the basis of foreign (non-US) diplomas must provide a detailed equivalency report. Independent evaluations must be made by a nationally recognized agency. Click here for a list of agencies.
