Family Educational Rights & Privacy Act

The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) helps protect the privacy of student records. The Act provides for the right to inspect and review education records, the right to seek to amend those records and to limit disclosure of information from the records. The Act applies to all institutions that are the
recipients of federal funding. FERPA is a general law that governs and protects your rights to your individual educational records. As a student enrolled in a postsecondary institution, your primary rights under FERPA are:

·  Your right to review and inspect your educational records;

·  Your right to have your educational records amended or corrected;

·  Your rights to control disclosure of certain portions of your educational records.
